One of the biggest risks to your pension is scams. Make sure you know the warning signs and how you can keep your savings safe. Take a look at this video from our administration partner to find out more.
Pension cold calling is illegal. Ignore any emails, phone calls or texts about your pension that you weren’t expecting.
If they claim to be from Just, or someone else you are used to dealing with, hang up and call the organisation back on a number you already have.
If it seems too good to be true, it probably is. Scammers might claim they can help you access your pension early, or promise guaranteed high investment returns on your money. Offers like this are never legitimate.
Scammers may offer you an exclusive, time-sensitive deal to make you rush into a decision. Take your time. Legitimate companies do not force or rush you.
What you can do
Before making any major decisions around your pension, it’s usually best to seek advice and to beware of scams. You can get free support from MoneyHelper and the FCA. Or you can speak to an independent financial adviser.
Check the arrangement is legitimate
Safe arrangements will feature on the FCA register and known scams will appear on the FCA warning list.
Take financial advice
Find a financial adviser through MoneyHelper. Check your adviser is legitimate by looking for them on the FCA register.
It’s a legal requirement to get financial advice before you transfer out of the Scheme if the value of your benefits is more than £30,000.
